fun short hike
fun short hike to an amazing viewpoint. we got off-route a couple of times but always managed to find the use trail again. the falls were flowing hard and we had the point all to ourselves for about 30min, despite seeing a few parties on the way up and down.

Sevrin's Birthday Hike
In spite of a few minor route-finding glitches, we found our way to this lookout for Sevrin's 9th birthday. We felt like Peregrine falcons in our little nest in the sky!

Great Day!
After reading about this in an old 80's Yosemite trail guide I went to look for it. Got a bit off track, but eventually found the old trail. What a great spot, and the view! I didn't encounter anyone else. On the way down I was able to follow the old trail most of the way back. Got back on the JMT to Nevada Falls and back. A Great Day.
Love this "secretive and yet not so secretive" spot.
Went up again May the 8th, 2011. On the way down my camera took a long fall... Thank Goodness the pouch with the memory foam protected it well and thank goodness it landed on the side of the trail right above the boulder field/rock slide area. That was close...

Fun and classic
Climbed with Meg to the summit. The views are spectacular. Apparently there's a 5.7R route from the Mist trail that leads straight to Sierra Pt. I'd like to investigate this next time.
Great scramble. A few patches of snow here and there. Followed the use trail right when we should have gone left but corrected our error somewhat easily. Cool stone stairs. Ate my sandwich and watched the waterfalls. Helicopter came over - uh oh. Made it back to the Village in time for free beer. Saw one other person coming up as we were going down. Multitudes on the Vernal Falls Trail.
One of the best ways to get off the beaten path in the Valley.

Sierra Point
Quick trip up to Sierra Point in the morning. Flow from all four falls was at impressive levels.
Ended up tripping and breaking my ankle near the Vernal Falls Bridge (of all places) later in the morning.

Sierra point
This year you can see Yosemite, Royal Arches, Vernal, Nevada and Illilouette Falls, plus falls off the panorama trail and the back side of Glacier point.
There used to be a rusty metal cable to pull your self up a nasty section but no sign of it is left
The remains of the rusty cable is down a slide about 40 feet below the trail.

Four waterfalls
Any point where you can see Vernal, Nevada, Illilouette, and Yosemite Falls at the same time is fine by me! Just start scrambling up the boulders at the "Rockfall" sign and you'll come across it eventually. Loved it - it's not too often that you can have a beautiful view in Yosemite Valley without sharing it with a crowd.
