Signal Butte Pasqueflower

Signal Butte Pasqueflower

Brave little first flower of spring, a Pasqueflower (often locally called the wild crocus) pushes through the duff on the lower trail to the summit of Signal Butte.
The soft purple hues are a welcome sight among the charred remains known as the Hayman Burn.

Great crocus bloom ..

I knew that if I looked at the CO pics
long enough, I would find a '08 flower
coming up and blooming. Congratulations!
This is the first one I've seen. Great
job, Sarah! I think there is a special
album for these flowers. - Larry

Re: Great crocus bloom ..

Larry,

Thanks for the positive feedback! I really enjoyed seeing these flowers not only because they are the first brave flowers of Spring in these parts, but because these flowers were pushing up through the debris of the Hayman Burn. These little flowers in the photo symbolize the forest's triumph over that fire.

Cheers,

Sarah
