Mountaineers Winter Route
Hiked from a snow berm blocking the road 1/4 mile from the Lake Annette trailhead. Put on snowshoes when I left the trail at about 3200' then transitioned to crampons when I went to gain the northwest ridge from the northwest basin.

A whiteout with wind
Made an attempt on Silver Peak despite the forecast. Snow covered the trail from the very beginning. Wasted about half an hour hiking back and forth on the PCT trying to find the climbers trail. We eventually found it, but that ended up being completely pointless as we soon lost it in the snow. If you're planning a winter ascent, I recommend just cutting directly up the boulder/snowfields when you first get a view of Silver Peak to your right. We continued upwards and got to about 5000' before turning back (not everybody was prepared for the weather, which at this point was pretty nippy). Hiked the extra few miles to Mirror lake as a consolation prize; swimming would have been cool I guess. Back to the trailhead by 3PM
Hiked via PCT. Beautiful fall color all around. Great day and way less people than most I90 hikes!

Trifecta
Started out at the Mirror Lake trailhead and did Tinkham (east), Tinkham (west), Abiel, and Silver on a beautiful Saturday morning. I lost the trail a couple times but found it again easily. Silver had the best summit view IMO. Gorgeous day, and an awesome loop! I'd do it again!
Fun Hike, was pretty rugged and rocky near the top, but the views were great. Was fortunate to hike it on a clear sunny day.

PCT route
Bit of a pain to get to the trailhead, just set your altimeter, negotiate the bad road up till you hit 3800 ft and see a bit of clear-cut, and you are there. Can do this in evening as I did, only took 2:40 round trip. Had the summit alone. Not as crowded as other hikes, tad bit of scrambling, and the talus wasn't really that bad, and doesn't last too long. I really enjoyed this "off the beaten path" adventure - will be back.

From Lake Annette
Done it from Windy Pass too. A low mountain with a big feel.

Had to turn around with really dense fog at the talus field

Silver Peak
Was able to drive most of the way up, thanks to 4wd. Finished via the NW Ridge.
I found the TH to be 5.3 miles, not 5.5. Also, I don't believe a USFS pass is required at the TH. There is no signage, and the TH doesn't fit the requirements for a "pass required" TH.
Fun little hike, the end was the best. Did this as a part of a "Silver-Abiel-Tinkham West-Tinkham East" circuit.

great weather
Easy access via Annette Lake trail. Beautiful sunny day. Hard-packed snow. No snowshoes needed, but crampons and axes comforting at the top. Glissading down the west slope was too much fun.

Via PCT
Came in via PCT. A bit scrabbly towards the top but great all around views.

Great Beginning ScrambleDid the south spur. This is an easy one--there is a boot path to follow all the way to the summit. Very exposed, bring your sun protection.
