From the Sirretta Trail
With Mike Callen. This has to be one of the easiest SPS peaks, along with Smith Mountain. Trip report.

Climbed with Taylor Dome
Started up at 3PM after climbing Taylor Dome earlier in the day. Nice relaxing walk up the trail, then up a marvelously well marked use trail to the summit. No pencil in the register can.

Great reward for moderate effort
The sun washed out Big Meadow and points south, but other views were great! I really appreciated the time someone had taken to upgrade the use trail's cairns, especially the "gate" leading off the main trail.

Leg stretcher
Continuing rehab of a knee injury. Didn't see a soul on the trail. Register was in a plastic pencil box in a Ziploc bag in the wooden box on top of the summit cairn. It appears to have been replaced June 2018.
Snow above 9500'. Climbed class 3 rock to avoid snow on the final summit block. Register was in a torn plastic bag, the glass jar broken on the rocks below. I put it in a zip lock bag and back under a rock near the base of the summit cairn. Then went to the true highpoint, peak 9980, where there was a register in a red can. Outstanding weather.

Awesome views of the snow capped Sierras
Well I suppose I got off the main trail to soon, I had to make my way thru brush and over rocks and logs. Anyways I made it to the top. Very beautiful view of Big Meadow and surrounding area. Creeks were full but there were mosquitoes everywhere.

From Big Meadow
Great free campsites by a stream right at the trailhead. Per the webpage directions I left the trail and cut uphill - but on the way back followed the ridgeline to the saddle, along a heavily-ducked use trail. That was easier.
Looks like you could cut the driving a bit by doing a cross-country hike (same distance with even less elevation) from the end of Forest Route 22S19 - but when I tried, the road was closed.

An esay hike
Probably one of the easiest peaks in the SPS list. Up less than 2 hours and down less than an hour. No summit register found in the broken wooden box on the top.

Car camping warm-up
With Wes, Shannon, and Erin after driving up from LA in the morning. But not before stopping off at the Kernville Brewery. Great camping right at the trail head in complete solitude.

From Big Meadow
Cairn built on the summit to raise it by 3 feet was the only interesting feature. Not sure why this is a SPS peak.

Quick yet nice hike on a pleasant day, but a long drive from anywhere for a so-so peak.

Big Meadow
Started in the dark and got to the top just after sunrise. Great views and a nice, easy hike. There was some remaining snow from a storm a few days earlier which made the summit rocks a little slippery. Climbed Taylor Dome afterwards.
