Corkscrew Route
Awesome route. Doable in a day but nice to bivy up near the entry point onto the glacier.

Corkscrew
Great day. Trailhead camped the night before, left the car at 7:00am and back at 6:30pm. Fun climb with AMAZING views.

Cougar Creek / Corkscrew
It was a georgeous summer weekend, and we had the mountain to ourselves -- couldn't believe it. This route is a memorable one because of the variety, the great location, and the changing vista as you work your way up the Corkscrew.

Route Climbed: The Corkscrew Route
An amazing route. Neat ledge system circling the peak. The night before, we slept out on the dirt and watched meteors streaking across the sky all night.
Route Climbed: Corkscrew Date Climbed: 30 sept, 2003
The quintessential Cascades climb. A water crossing, old growth, scree, glacier, third class rock, and a lot of elevation gain for some great views. A classic. Car to car in 14 hours.

Fun route, definite classic IMO. Fun to cross the river, and gentle trail yet overgrown to the avy debris and bugs and then the awesome lower basins. Did the lower traverse of the glacier on a 4 person rope team. Jessica fell in a couple of feet on a snow bridge and got her pretty freaked (First Glacier Climb).
Easy trail leads to the summit with a few 3 rd class moves, the rest is scree and sand on ledges.

Due to cloudy and windy conditions we decided to go to the edge of Sloan glacier just to see if a summit attempt was possible. After some delibaration, taking bearings and hoping for improvement in the weather we decided to go. We skirted around crevasses and traversed top of of a large crevasse and rock cliff right under the summit block (we used 3 pickets on this section). The trail on the summit block is mostly snow free except one section, so keep your ice axes with you for traversing it. Making use of the solid rock at the top we summited at 6pm. The summit of Glacier Peak was peaking on and off through the thick layer of clouds.
