This page is excellent for the text, the pictures and the map. Wonderful! And I came here by mistake, I was looking for Mount Sneznik in Istra north Craotia, bordering with Slovenia.
Well, somethimes I'll have time to go south and reach the top of Snijeznica.
I suppose the name comes from snow, so it means that in winter it snows a lot there.
Unluckilly no one has put Sneznik (Slovenian) jet to SP, although it is the highest mountain in that part of Dinaric Alps, and the highest mountain in Slovenia which does not belong to the Julian, Kamnik-Steiner or Karavanke Alps.
Ive planned to climb that mountain too, so who knows?!
Take care!
Gord
ps.
Just for your information just east of Rijeka (Fiume) is another mountain with similar name Snijeznik (it belongs to Gorski kotar region in Croatia). The name of all those mountains is a derivation from the Slavic word for snow, snow mountain. So you have Snežnik (SLO), Snijeznik (HR; Rijeka,/Fiume), and Snijeznica (HR, Dubrovnik)
