Larry S. and I hiked in from Spooner Summit and bagged the summit in extremely high winds. View from the top was okay, but some of the vistas along the trail were more interesting to me.
Route Climbed: Up TRT from Spooner Summit, Down Marlette Lake Trail Date Climbed: August 21, 2005
Saw this on a map and decided to hike it. I didn't realize it was on SP until after I got back but a map was enough. Summit was okay though nothing special as views on the approach were much nicer. Great swim in Marlette Lake made it worthwhile. Here's a short trip report.
Route Climbed: North Canyon Road Date Climbed: 30 May 2004
Beautiful Day for a nice hike. Lots of mountain bikers on the road before the turn-off. About 11 miles round trip in 4.5 hours with 2,264 ft EG. The views of Tahoe and Sierra's are fantastic.
Route Climbed: SE canyon side and North Canyon Date Climbed: several times in the late 1990s and early 2000s
As noted is other posts, you can mountain bike almost to the top. I took a cross country route of the King's Canyon road and hiked northeast to the peak, but the thick brush in parts was a nuisance.
Route Climbed: Cross country from Spooner Lake road Date Climbed: April 10, 2003
I decided that this would make a good snowshoe hike but didn't need the shoes until near the summit as the snow was consolidated enough to hold my weight. The views from the summit were outstanding and were really special over towards Lake Tahoe. Mt. Rose to the north, Mt. Tallac and Freel Peak were visible to the south as well as all of the other peaks that ring Lake Tahoe.

Date Climbed: August 2, 2002Pushed up mountain bike as the trail was quite steep. Downhill was nice, though. Can be done as a side trip to the Flume trail.
