August 21st, 2006 - Looking toward Elsie Col from the Gooseneck Pinnacle. I see some tempting future climbs to do!

Unorthodox Route

We came down Backpackers Pass, very steep scree, from Helen Glacier in 1981. Climbed Gannett via the little ragged neck of snow at the top of the Gooseneck Glacier. Then on to the summit ridge and returned via the standard Gooseneck ridge/gulley route. Haven't seen that route variation described. Next climb was 1991 via Bonney/Dinwody Pass and standard Gooseneck gully & ridge route.
