Route Climbed: Mesa trail to Shadow canyon Date Climbed: December 2004
Have used this as a training jaunt several times. Great steepness, perfect elevation for cardio gains and great views of the Indian Peaks. Expect ice on the trail during winter and early spring.
Route Climbed: Townee, Shadow Canyon Date Climbed: June 3rd 2005
After my friend ditched me and I could not do my planned climb of Dreamweaver today, I decided to go for a workout on South Boulder Peak. Up in 1h10m, down in 48m. approx. 2800ft. I am sure I will be sore tomorrow!
Route Climbed: Shadow Canyon Date Climbed: Jan 18, 05
Did this on a cold windy day. Could not stay on the peak long, it was just too cold.
One hell of a steep hike! We did it with snow on the bottom and the top of the mountain. Don't think we would of made it without our instep crampons. The top was very slippery.
This is the first of the Boulder Mountains me and my wife have done.
Route Climbed: Shadow, Fern, BP West Ridge... Date Climbed: 2002-2004
I like to do this climb along with Bear and Green in the winter, especially when it is snowing. The area is gorgeous, and the snow keeps away the summer crowds.
Route Climbed: Up Shadow Canyon, Down Fern Canyon Date Climbed: May 24, 2004
Definitely make sure you do Bear Peak if you plan on doing S Boulder Peak. Although S Boulder is a bit higher (highest point in the 'Boulder Range'), Bear Peak has better views of both Boulder and the Indian Peaks. It's an easy but steep climb coming up Shadow Canyon; bring plenty of water and respect the weather by getting off these summits early.
Route Climbed: From Bear Peak Date Climbed: Summer 2003
I did S. Boulder Peak on a marathon day starting at NCAR then over to Green Mountain, then Bear Peak and then S. Boulder Peak. We didn't stay too long on SBP as we were anxious to get back to NCAR and go home! I will have to do this one again since it is so close to Bear Peak.
Route Climbed: Shadow Canyon, Bear Peak Traverse Date Climbed: 1994-2004
I think I have been up South Boulder Peak 15 or so times. It is a nice friendly mountain that offers a very decent workout and suprisingly satisfying scenery (especialy considering the close proximity to Boulder).
Route Climbed: Mesa Trail/Shadow Canyon Date Climbed: April, 2002
I climbed S. Boulder Peak about 5 times, since it was about 15-20 minutes drive from my house. There are great views from the summit. I first climbed it in April, and the ice had melted, and the summit was nice and clear, with great views of the front range and the foothills.
Route Climbed: Shadow Canyon to Fern Canyon Date Climbed: December 7, 2003
Spectacular and windy. My first time up SBP and the views don't disappoint. Stiff, hot work up Shadow Canyon but colder up here in the wind. On to Bear Peak and down Fern Canyon.

We opted out of the Bear Peak combo, but it would make a great day!
