South Cascade Lake & Glacier

Sentinel peak is the distant reddish pyramid left of the glacier, and to the right is the north end of the ridge known as “Hoch Joch Spitz”. Barely visible on the lower rock buttress, just right of the glacier in the slanting evening sun, is the university glacial research station. This multi-room facility is left unlocked, and is equipped with glacial rescue gear, a radio, and limited food. Obviously, use of any of these items would likely be intended only for emergency purposes.
