Peakbagger's Pleasure
Grasshopper trail is in good shape, but a pretty annoying bushwhack to the summit with no views. Completed the loop over to Chucksney (good views), but lots of deadfall to climb over on the trail down. Weather was perfect.

Too early in the season
A hike up the North trail around to the northeast bowl then ascended to summit. Tons of deadfall on the trail for miles, had to climb over, under, through, and around tangles of fallen trees which really slowed the trip down. 4 hours up, 3 hours down in a steady rainfall that turned to snow for the upper 700 feet of the mountain.

Long day
With Luna. Left Portland 7:30 am, started up 11:08 am. Nice hike to Chucksney first, then over to South Chucksney. Probably should have gone just straight south on the ridge. Instead I thought I'd find a n easier way but it never came. Ended up going straight up west through the least resistance beargrass and other shrubbery. Somebody needs to replace the register jar, it's rusting shut. I had a bugger of a time opening it. Looks like nobody signed it last year. Saw CMC's note and Dean's card. Almost missed the trail on the bushwhack down, thought it was just a spot where a tree decayed but decided to follow it and discovered I was on the trail. Back to the car by 4:20 pm. Headed over to do Horsepasture Mountain afterwards but found the road closed 5 miles from the trailhead. Didn't have another 10+ mile hike in me so called it a day. :-)

Summit trail
Terrible weather, thought it was going to go into 2012.

South Chucksney Summit
Hiked this one with Dosha the dog on a somewhat moist and mostly viewless day. Only John's entry and Dean's business card were in the register so far. Continued on to do the Chucksney loop described by Sullivan after summiting. Lots of slugs and mushrooms along the trail. I would recommend doing the bushwhack from the northwest side instead of the west, as the brush is not as thick.

Trail
Did this with Dean. Fun hike, but I wish the views had been better.

The grasshopper trail
An enjoyable hike with a bit of cross country at the end. SP'er Bob Bolton and I did this one first and then added Carpenter Mtn later in the day. My kind of fun.
