Great Shot

Great shot of an incredible area. My brother and I climbed this out a few years ago and had a great time. I remember the crux was the 500 foot mesa and the 500 talus cone to get the base of the three rock pitches. There are some great places to camp back in this section of Indian Creek with good access to Canyonlands (plus it's always about 10 degrees warmer than Newspaper Rock).

Re: Great Shot

Thanks Steve. I'd heard that the climb up through the mesa and talus cone could be a pain, but we managed to find a fantastic, cairned route the whole way and it didn't take more than 45 minutes. We camped along the 4WD road and endured a major sand storm the night before the climb.

Job well done ...

Gotta love those colors, and the way the
pyramid-shaped shadow is cast upon the
landscape.

Perhaps the dust particles made the colors
stand out more? That's some wide-open scenery!!

Re: Job well done ...

Thanks! From the rich, warm colors in the photo one may think it was a warm day. Looks can be deceiving - it was 35 degrees. Brrr!
