WCR solo: A nice alternative to standard routes
I made sure to pick a day when AVI danger was in the green! This was a pretty easy route, I'd say just a step up from standard routes but without the crowd! Maxed out at about 50 degrees. A 2nd tool is highly recommended. Watch the video for the full experience!

Ski mountaineering
My first full-on ski mountaineering trip! Ascended from Palmer ski lift to headwall on skis and ski crampons. Slipped on this approach and went for a ride until I was able to self arrest with only ski boots and one pole. Then skis went on my back and put boot crampons on and used 2 tools to climb the headwall. Traversed a very narrow knife-edge ridge in high winds w/ skis on m back. Stashed skis at the base of the last pitch to the summit. After summiting in very high winds, we retrieved our skis and skied down the Hogsback. Snow was breakable crust and it was basically side-slipping and survival skiing. Just below Illumination Rock, we encountered a whiteout and had to proceed cautiously to the ski lift where we were able to use the wands and groomed boundaries to navigate back to the lodge.
