The same thinghappened here (in AZ). Dust everywhere you look.
Is this the one that's supposed to resemble
a Native American's head-dress, or is that
Red Cloud Peak?
Sorry, age is creeping up on me and I become
'forgetful' when it comes to names and faces.

Re: The same thingThe sandstorm was spooky. The skies looked really ominous, the winds were very strong, sand was everywhere, and I didn't know if it was normal or if we should get the heck out of there (I'm very new to the desert)!
The Six-Shooters are supposed to resemble revolvers.

Re: The same thingSarah? My most sincere apologies! I had your
name "confused" with the the other Sarah on
this SP-site.
The desert is an amazing place. When one of
those "sandstorms" blow through, the best thing to do is duck and cover.
The winds (especially in March/April) are
typical in the Desert SW.

Re: new to desertInteresting question. For one thing, it seems like I end up eating a lot of sand :). Sand gets in my shoes and acts like sandpaper. The rock is a lot softer and sometimes disintegrates. It was interesting seeing huge marks where ropes had dug into the rock. Oh, and I'm terrified of snakes and spiders, but I have managed to avoid seeing them on my first two trips.
