In a place with so many established routes, I doubt I made a new one. But it wasn't in the book. Awesome views of the range!

I climbed this peak from the Meadows in Garnet Canyon after climbing Middle Teton on the way. It was a beautiful warm sunny day with great views. Round trip over the two peaks from the Meadows took 7 1/4 hours.

The day started with me smashing the alarm clock against the wall. The damn thing did not ring! At the end of the day, returning to the trailhead, I felt like I was the happiest person on the entire planet.

Fantastic views and surpisingly easy from the saddle compared to the middle. Much better views from the summit though. Avalanche canyon is amazing. I highly recommend this summit.

We reached our campsite and had the tent set-up by 3:00 p.m. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to go ahead for the summit (forecast was for clear skies all day). We reached 12,000' and then got hit by a thunderstorm. We hauled ass back to camp and made it safely. We then got up the next morning and went for the summit. It only took us about (3) hours to make it to the summit. We then packed up our campsite and made it back to the truck.

Time to summit of the South after summiting the Middle, 3:59:03 hrs from Lupine trail head, to Middle summit, to South summit. A little snow remains, but could practically avoid all of it if you wanted to. Views from the South are incredible!!! My first time up the South and will probably do it every time I do the Middle from now on.
Route Climbed: NW Couloir Date Climbed: July 31, 2003
Climbed South Teton, together with Middle Teton from Lupine Meadows Trailhead, solo in 12 hours car-to-car. Climbing South Teton added about 2 hrs to the trip, but it's well worth it since the views towards Middle and Grand are outstanding and I had the peak all to myself (everyone else was only climbing Middle). The guidebook calls it 4th class, but I'd say mostly 3rd with only a few exposed moves when gaining the couloir. Luckily, there was no snow on the route. Great day in the mountains with two nice summits.
