Spiders from Costa Rica

I take this photo in August 2008 in Volcano Arenal Area (Costa Rica). I don't know the species; only that the big one was about 15 cm (6 inches) long.

I am sure

the big one is a female, and the small one a male. Good chance that the minute they coupulate, the female will eat the male.

I agree. I had also heard the same about that curious way to understand relationships among spiders (an habit that I hope it doesn't spread to other species).

Banana Spider

This is a banana spider they are very poisonous, and are all over Costa Rica.

Yes... I remember that our guide said that this spider is poisonous but... harmless to humans because of the shape of their jaws, which prevent it from biting...

Therefore, the only precaution is not eating them... (sample of Costa Rica's joke)
