Start of our AT Hike
Worked hard up the approach trail, through a lot of rain. Signed the register; pictures at the plaque, then we were off on the AT.

Loopity Loop
Hiked to the top of congested summit, and then took a solitary hike on the Springer Loop Trail through clouds, a downpour, and then finally sun. A pleasant 4.7 miles all to myself.

AT dayhiker
I ended my day hiking of the AT by going up Springer from the upper parking lot, just before the falls. I did the stairs after coming back so got in a nice 4,358' of gain on the 16.5 mile RT hike.

First night out on a short section hike to Clingman's Dome. One of the best sunsets seen.

Started my AT hike to Neels Gap on a clear - cool day... Views could be better... but it is an iconic summit!

Wonderful in spring....
Backpacked from Amicalola Falls to the top of Springer, spending one night on the AT Approach Trail. The best part of the hike, in my opinion, was the brilliant green of spring. Absolutely brilliant!

North Bound week-long section hike of AT
Sadly, the peak was socked in with clouds this morning. We were heading out after a relaxing night at the Len Foote Inn (4 inches of rain that night!) and enjoyed this peak, even though we couldn't see a darn thing and the humidity was insane.

Short summer hike via Approach Trail
Hiked from the Approach Trail on a steamy August day. Decent view from the summit. Wish I could have gone further.

Amicalola to Springer and on to the AT.
Hiked this early in the morning and unfortunately when I got to the top it was all fogged in. I had camped the night before about a mile and half south on the approach trail that starts at Amicalola Falls. In total, this was an 18 mile day and a little more challenging than I expected with a 40lb pack. There was a really nice gentleman on top that had a register to collect peoples names and provide some great information on the trail. I wish I remembered his name...

Was running out of time (had to head back to the airport), but I really wanted to see the southern end of the AT. Great short hike, can't wait to return for more AT peaks.
