St. Mary's "Glacier" makes an excellent place to test one's tent for wind worthiness. There are almost always very high winds roaring over the snowfield. 28 Nov 2003

I know how that wind can just roar across those tundra flats and down over what's left of the glacier. Testing a tent there is one thing. But doing it just bcause? Crazy! Please tell me you were testing your tent!

Yes it was a high wind test. James Peak was a secondary and aborted objective the next day. I have never wished for windproof briefs before! I forgot my windproof pants for the last time.



The owner of the tent in the background left about an hour after this photo was taken. He and his tent could not take anymore.
