Steep Dirt Gully

Near the end of the "Goat Trail Traverse" this steep dirt gully can be found. This gully is not as steep and exposed as this photo implies, but it still requires caution when ascending or descending. A fall in this gully might not be fatal but could cause serious injury. Most potential summiters of Microwave Ridge and Birkenhead Peak prefer traversing this gully rather than a possible mixed exposed scramble up through questionable rocks and tight krummholz nearby.
