Memorial Day
First venture into the North Cascades. Gorgeous day with no wind. Quite warm though, snow was pretty slushy but still firm - no post holing to be had. Continuous snow above Perry Creek completely obscured the trail.

Stillaguamish
Birthday hike while on vacation in the PNW. Did this one with James Barlow, Becca Romig, and Sam Hahn. Awesome hike and awesome day. Ventured off on my own on the hike out and climbed Mount Forgotten as well.

First winter ascent
First time even wearing and hiking in snowshoes, probably one of the most strenuous days I have ever had. Started from the old Perry Creek TH before they closed the road, and got into snow just above the falls. Made it to the ridge without snowshoes, then donned crappy ones until someone gave me their MSR's. Didn't go to the top of the summit block, but stopped just below due to lack of crampons or ice experience
From the Forgotten/Stillguamish saddle, the boot path starts off strong and becomes incredibly tough to follow at times while in the woods. Following the ridge crest from the saddle will ultimately result in some airy 4th class moves and finally getting cliffed out. The boot path is actually a couple hundred vertical feet below the ridge crest, more in some places. Don't stay near the crest until after you're well past 5420 and on your way to 5443. A NW Forest pass is required at the Dickerman/Forgotten/Stillaguamish joint trailhead.

2nd Time
Got it this time... The meadows seemed like they were forever in the warm, sun exposed snow on the way back. Wish we would have brought the snowshoes. Bluebird day with amazing views.

Tougher In Winter
Gave it our best shot. Took Perry Creek Trail to the falls. Followed the trail (which became snow and ice) for about .5 miles then we just headed straight up (north) through the woods until we hit the ridgeline at 10:30am. It has been a low snow season, but there was still lots of snow on the ridge. I have a feeling that we were to high on the ridge and needed to drop down and traverse west. Regardless, the ridge had amazing views of Whitechuck, Forgotten, Dickerman, Twin Peaks and Big Four... all being the closest in view. We will try it again.

This was my first trip with Gareth. We had a ball. The weather could have been better but at least we made it.

Awesome views...climbed Forgotten in the morning and traversed over to climb Stilly that afternoon. Looking at the summit from below I never would have guessed there would be that much room up there!
