Tried coming on the south route from the fire station last year, but did a lot of uphill and was still so far away. Came via Barrett Stoddard Road this time and it was much more straightforward. Nice and easy. Beautiful day.

Barrett-Stoddard rules
My first time walking up the Barrett Stoddard road and what a great walk. I have been up Baldy road a million times and never walked up the BS road. No garbage, few tracks and great views, a nice grade. The trail to the top of Stoddard Peak is a real fun trail winding around brush and outcrops and up and down to the summit. For a short afternoon hike it was about as rewarding as can be. The views down to Baldy road and the tunnels are great. I live in Wyoming so to do a hike in mid January with a tee shirt is just the best with perfect temps.

Lots of Snow!
Best friend and I hiked north route. Tons of snow after recent storms. Postholing up to unnamed summits just north of Stoddard. We didn't see anybody on the trail the whole day, but too many people on Baldy Road headed for the village. Great Hike!

3rd time
Great hike with a little rain. Saw a rare legless lizard on the descent. We descended straight down the west slope of the main summit. Had to make a scary rushing river crossing with all the recent rain.
