Stone Mountain
Quick stop on the way to Brasstown Bald. A whole mess of people were going to the top. That, the $20 you had to pay for parking, and the Confederate theme of the park made it a very unfulfilling experience in nature.

Fantastic fall views!
Despite the constant stream of summit-goers and due to the lack of haze, it was surprisingly easy to lose oneself in the infinite vistas. Brand-new experience for this Westerner! I only wish that the park's existence was devoted to a less cloudy purpose.

Run up with Leni and then blasted down in under 4 1/2 minutes
Ran up, bombed down, then ran all the way around. That was an intense 4 1/2 minutes coming down---so fun! We'll see how long that record stands.
Really impressed with the variety—-the mountain, all the water, bridges, flowy single track, fountains, the giant carving, etc.

Never heard of but dodging hurricane found myself in area. Family took tram to top. Quite dramatic monolith like Georgia’s Uluru. Agreed the prices are insane and the confederate carving a true blight. But it’s quite the surprise so close to urban metropolis

6/8/2017 --- Stone Mountain: Georgia --- 1683’
Bree and I made a quick trek up Stone Mountain today. The best thing about it was…..this was the first time summiting this mountain for the both of us!!!! I really can’t believe that neither of us have done it until now. Oh well, better late than never.
o 1.23 miles each way
o Begin at 1025’ and summit at 1686’
o 600’ of elevation gain
Despite the crowds, this is still a fun little hike. We did this in the evening and saw a beautiful sunset go down past the Atlanta skyline.

Picked a beautiful day to climb to the summit of Stone Mountain.
We're just starting out with our summit-collecting, so this was a great first challenge. :)

Crowded but nice
Short hike to the top made somewhat more interesting by carrying two laptops up in my backpack. Great views of Atlanta if somewhat hazy. The hidden treasure of Stone Mountain Park are the rivers and associated hiking trails on the drive in which I also visited. Some of those secluded hikes are well worth the trip and remind you of what the South was like before cars, roads and buildings.

Hahah didn't know this would be listed on here ... my college T&F team took our spring break spring this year to Atlanta, and this was one of our side activities. Scenic, fun
