As others have mentioned, this is definitely the most impressive peak in the area. The trail itself is very easy, with a few too many switchbacks, but the peak itself has fantastic views to the south, east, and north. Much more impressive than the cluster of buildings on top of its neighbor to the west, Cuyamaca peak.

Trailhead from Campground to Summit
Climbed this mountain numerous times while in high school & college. Great views and a good little summit. Stop by Julian, CA on way home & grab some apple pie. Climbed w/ many friends and my wife.

Route Climbed: Stonewall Peak Trail
Ahh, Columbus Day. The once widely observed federal holiday where I used to get a school day off in my youth is now the very "un PC" holiday that is a regular school day for my kids. So being in the military, it has become a "date day" for the wife and I. This one taking the nice trail to the top of Stonewall. Great views! Especially of the recent fire damage. Day was pretty uneventful until we ran across a woman in the early stages of panic. Seems a 14-year old boy in her party took a fall on one of the rock-climbing routes and we ended up with front row seats to the CDF conducting a rescue. I think the boy ended up OK.

Route Climbed: Stonewall Peak Trail
I climbed Stonewall on a cold, cloudy and windy day. While at the top, clouds blew past my feet gusting up to 30 mph. I recommend a day like that as there was not a soul in sight from the moment I left my car across from Pasa Picacho campground until I returned after the hike.

First time of many up this interesting Granite peak. Too bad about the fires, it won't be back to it's former beauty for hundreds of years - some of those old growth trees were really spectacular.

Summited this peak 3 times. Twice while in high school & once w/ my wife in 1998. Great little mountain w/ good views on top. Good place to escape to from the San Diego area. Very close to Julian.
