Great warm-up
Light monsoon clouds made for some beautiful light on the granite and down into the valley. What a fantastic lookout... the town is so well-hidden that it's hardly visible.

Climber's trail
From Humber Park, took the climber's trail to the base of Suicide Rock, then stayed on the trail until it met the main trail. Light class 2 on the way. Passed several climbing parties doing their thing.

Great day for a hike
Pretty straight forward hike. Looks much more difficult coming up the face.
Oh my! I hadn't been hiking in several weeks due to a mountain biking injury and the first part of this hike kicked my butt. A great trail that was surprisingly peaceful at 9:30am. Most of the hikers didn't show up until the afternoon. We're usually the late hikers...but this time we actually got up early-ish and it paid off. We snagged a great spot at the top to have lunch and the view was rewarding!

1st climb Tabby Treat
Took climbing lesson from the shop in town along with a few other explorer scouts.
Within a couple more years climbing became my life and I visited Suicide, Tahquitz, or Joshua Tree hundreds of times through the late 80's.
Climbed nearly all established routes within my ability (5.10-5.11) at Suicide.
A few of my favorites I did multiple times including Sundance, Ten Carrot Gold, Serpentine, Hair Lip, Miscalculation, and Flower of High Rank.
First time up Suicide. I've looked at it from across the valley for years but never made it over there being always focused on Tahquitz. Decided Surprise would be a good first route. Easy approach and a great slab to crack! It was also cool to stand at the base of Valhalla and check it out.

Deer Springs Trail
Relatively easy with great views of clouds below Idyllwild. Then they came up and everything was covered in fog...

From Deer Springs
Nice and gradual ascent. You hardly notice the vertical. Great views. Rested, and had a snack at the nice open area at the edge, then went the extra feet for the summit register. Perfect weather.

Nice Getaway
Daddy-daughter peak number two on this day via the climber's trail. We enjoyed the quiet trail through the woods and incredible views from the top.
Razors edge (5.9 R) was my introduction to rock climbing in 1993. Only one pitch, but a very nerve racking, wafer thin flake for a newbie to tackle. Awesome!

Couple climbs
Guilotine and Grahm Crackers. Both went well. Guilotine was hard for the grade at the chimney part. Not real experienced with chimneys though.
