Practically in my backyard, so I do this hike at least once a week. Nice loop is to go up the south ridge from the lower reservoir over the south and then north summit following the trail back down the other side to Palmer Lake (ends behind the condos at the NE corner of town).

saw some obvious cat tracks. Honestly followed two sets most of the way, one big set and one little set...

Standard route
A quick afternoon hike after two other peaks across the highway. Also hit the unranked, unnamed summit at about 8,340 to the north. Saw no one until I was almost back to the TH. Nice.

s.e. slopes from Highland Rd.
I didn't know there was a trail, so I just bushwacked straight up the steep s.e. slopes. Nice little peak to hit after work. Can be combined with Chautauqua, but there's a lot of elevation loss between the two.
Kevin, I already knew you were crazy, and this confirms it. You busted up the SE slopes??? Give me a break! That's insane! It's ridiculously loose! And my wife thinks _I'm_ crazy...

Mich nicer than you'd think!
A very nice little hike! The singletrack is a little slopey here and there, but a very fine little hike.

Via Monument Creek
Sure, this mountain isn't fearsome or glamorous, but what I really enjoyed was amazing solitude so close to town. While hikers/joggers/dog walkers are milling up and down the trail a long Monument Creek, once we turned north up the gully from the Lower Reservoir, we entered a very special place. Despite a well-worn trail up this way, few seem to venture up this secret little gully. Hiking partner: Deb.

Warm winter dayNice walk on a sunny snowy day. I missed the right turn up the saddle so I ended up on the north summit first and then made my way down
