Early Summer Trip with Kids
Great hike with kids (a tad long for my 1st grader)! Started at 6:30 am on a Saturday morning in early summer, and didn't see another soul until the hike down. Ate lunch at the summit around 11:00. My boys loved playing in the small snowdrifts. There are 3 places where the trail splits and only the last one is marked with a sign. The first one is the most confusing, since the one going the wrong way happens to be headed directly towards the lookout tower, but it quickly narrows to a single track, so that's the give-away. Can't wait to try this in snowshoes (without the kids).

Snow Hike
Hiked on hard-packed snow up the road from More's Creek summit. Brought snowshoes, but never needed to wear them.

Ski
It was always a flip of the coin when we skied up here, Pilots or Sunset?

This was an unbelieveable day when i went. Lots of crisp white snow and sun the whole way...shorts and tank weather. Great views. Much better than i expected.

snowshoe
a worthwhile snowshoe trip. Pretty cold day as you have to start early before the parking lot fills with snow machines

Via Singletrack Mtn Bike
Started just north of Idaho City and followed a motorcycle single track trail on my mountain bike that follows the SW ridges to the lookout via dozens of ups and downs. In the prime of hunting season, I saw no one which is remarkable given this location. The vertical ascent is over 8000 ft and 28 miles (roundtrip). One of the longest climbs on a mountain bike I've done in an afternoon.
After having previous plans of climbing Quicksilver Mountain not work out, I decided a last minute snowshoe. The Road to the summit was covered in so much snow I never so most of it and got a little lost but made it anyway. Beautiful spring day!

Trail from Mores Creek Summit
Decided to cross country ski, however this was a bad snow winter and there was frozen snow machine tracks which made it very treacherous without edges. Needless to say - I probably walked more than I skied. Took my dog too.
Route Climbed: Mores Creek / Hungarian Ridge Date Climbed: 1995-2005 25+ times
Besides the winter fun, the route up from Mores Creek Summit provides excellent Mountain biking or trail running route in the warmer months. The Hungarian Ridge is mostly a single track trail, which is uncommon for the area. The parking area is newly expanded to handle the surplus of Snow-mobilers. Steer clear of nearby Pilot Peak in the winter unless you like noise and fumes. The parking area (Mores Creek Summit) is also a good road cycling goal and turnaround point during warmer months.

First time on snowshoes in about 15 years and one of my hiking buddies comes up with this one, 10 miles round trip and we had to break trail all the way. Still very enjoyable, even with the soreness the next day. Trip Report
