From Carney Springs Trail Head
Only one car so sadly not practical to do the full traverse. Along the ridge to Pk 4869 before turning back, taking in the Three Sisters top at the end of the ridge en route. (It was here that my phone came alive with the tragic news [to me, a Brit] of the '22 World Cup Quarter Final: England 1, France 2. Sadly my memory of this handsome peak will be forever sullied by H Kane's penalty miss)

It was pretty warm right from the get go, and my ankle is still in rough shape from the jam on Camelback the other day. so I took it pretty easy on the way up & sat on top for 20+ minutes. Went fairly quick on the way down, considering how careful I was being with my ankle. Torqued it a couple times on the way down. Gonna have to take it easy and rehab the next week or so I imagine.
1st time up in 10 years. I'm pretty sure this route and trailhead wasn't established back then. Fun route with a few fun scrambling sections. It's pretty nice to be able to do this from a paved trailhead, rather than driving for an hour and getting a flat tire on nasty rocky roads like last time. I really want to do the whole loop and the whole ridgeline sometime as well though.

Great view. Tough hike.
Tough climb, but worth it for the views. Slick coming down. Did it from Hieroglyphics TH.

2nd Time Is a Loop
Started at the Carney Spring TH on Peralta Trail, just before the Peralta TH, went up the use trail to the ridge. I was still debating if I was going to summit or just go for a hike along the ridge, but due to my late start (10:30) I decided that I wouldn't get very far on the ridge so decided to summit and then go down the Hieroglyphic Trail. It turned out to be almost 5 1/2 miles between the trailheads on the Lost Gold Mine Trail, but at least it was a loop hike rather than an out and back on the same trail.

A beautiful day hiking among the hoodoos of the Supes. Enjoyed every aspect of this hike, except the bashing my knee into a rock aspect.

Absolutely fantastic hike with outstanding views all along and some fun scrambling at the top. Very good trail with lots of cairns. Seems to be quite popular.

27 Peaks in 21 Days
This was part of a 21 day hiking road-trip I did with Heather. We climbed it in the rain and fog from Heiroglyphic Canyon which was interesting. We only got off-route once. Other peaks we did on this trip include:
Pinos, Sawmill, Aliso, Signal, Castle Dome, Ajo, Miller, Turtle HP, Old Woman, Granite, Cinder Cone 3894', Avawatz, Pahrump, Pinto, Nelson HP, Panamint Butte, Canyon Point, Shadow, Grapevine, Wahguye, Palmer, Stirling, Northshore, Black Mesa, Hamblin, and Little Virgin.
We also visited Heiroglyph Canyon, Marble Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon, Sheep Spring Canyon, Cadiz Dunes, Mojave Lava Tube, Parowan Gap Dinosaur tracks and numerous pertroglyph sites.
See the trip report with photos for more information.

Beautiful hike!
I hiked from Carney Springs TH, trail was clear, in good shape and well-cairned. My GPS app showed 4 miles from the TH to the summit, about 2950' of gain. After the summit I continued on towards Flatiron, turned around at 6.3 miles from the TH, for a total of 5008' of gain in 13.8 miles. I did go to the Lost Goldmine TH on the return and road walked back to Carney Springs TH. I didn't have any problem with thorns or cactus, even with bare arms and legs. Quite a few people on the trail as it was a Sat., including a total of about 15 hiking from Flatiron.

Long hike from Miner's Needle
A surprisingly easy scramble after a long hike west from Miner's Needle. Fortunately some people had come before me to pack a trail through the snow. Returned via Carney Saddle. Trip report.

Good day
I was in town on business and had a little window of time so hiked from the Carney Springs trailhead.
I honestly thought 4 hours would be plenty for this hike. I was mistaken.
I turned around below the summit.
No worries, it was a great hike. Trail is very well-marked by cairns in most places. Didn't see a soul once I was on the trail. I will gladly go back.

Beautiful climb
We went up via Hieroglyph Canyon, aiming for the balancing rock. We ran into some class 3+ rock there, so advise aiming higher on the ridge to avoid it. From there it was fairly straight forward following the ridge, heading right around the big rocky obstacles near point 4402, and up through the class 3 climbs to the summit. The views were outstanding from the moment we started ascending from the canyon floor near the petroglyph site. Upon descending, we dropped down before the rocky spine near the balancing rock and ran into some cliffy areas which added some spice to the trip back down. It was a great mountain.
From what I remember great weather & views. Hiked with my brother.

Carney Springs
A nice, quick morning hike starting at Carney Springs. Though I was in the dark for the first 45 minutes or so, the views when the sun came up (especially of Weavers Needle) were awesome. Route is very easy to follow and overcairned, but very near the top I was fooled into traversing in front of and below the summit pinnacles instead of going up and behind them which is the correct route. 3:45 CTC.

From Carney Springs with Brit
We got a flat tire just before the trailhead and it ended up being a bit of a premonition of things to come. We planned to run and be up and down in three hours. Things didn't go super well due to being tired from a 10k race the day before, the heat, and other factors. We also somehow followed a huge rock cairn that took us below the summit and to the other side of the mountain. We ended up bushwacking for about an hour before going back to the original spot and finding the correct route to the top which was really fun and a great little scramble to the summit. Only got cactused a few times and drew blood only once...the lack of enough food or water was a bigger concern. Definitely cool though!

Surreal
I decided to hike this mountain from the Carney Springs TH when I had a few hours to blow before a week long business trip in Phoenix. It was 100 degrees + but it wasn’t too hot in the late afternoon due to the aspect of the route. Didn't see a single person the entire way, and I had Stevie Wonder and then "I've been through the desert on a horse with no name..." in my head the whole way. Very surreal and beautiful area.
