From Tierberglihutte
Followed the easy way from the Tierberglihutte. Although there were no technical difficulties the weather made us turn around before we reached the summit.
We started at 6 am directly from the parking area (side road from Steingletscher) after sleeping in the car the night before. We didn't use the hut, because it's possible to do the ascent all the way from the valley. We ascended all the way to the summit arriving there at 10:30. Nice pace for almost 1600Hm. Back at the car at 14:30.
If someone is up for this I would rather recommend doing it as a ski-tour than walking.
Climbed together with Sebastian.

E-ridge
We had a very nice walk in to the friendly Voralphutte over the Sustenjoch. Next day got onto the Brunnenfirn along the marked trail along the moraine and climbing route. Then to the start of the ridge proper at 3.000m. Nice climbing - great view at the top. Back down to Sustenpass via Tierberglihutte.

Bike to the summit
With a friend of mine, Markus, we did a back-to-the-roots
tour: the plan was to go by bicycle from our hometown to the Alpes for climbing a summit, taking the whole equipment with us). We started on Jul 17 from Ringsheim, Germany, and reached the Tierberglihuette on Jul 21 (after approx. 350km). The next morning we started the glacier tour to the summit at 6.30a.m. and reached the summit at 10:30a.m. It was perfect weather and there were no problems. We reached the Tierberglihuette at 12:30a.m. and did the descent to Hotel Steingletscher the same day (we skipped Gwaechtenhorn, because people told us there's a lot of crevasses). Finally, we got back to our hometown in 3 more cycling days.
Cycling was very exhaustive, because it was very hot that time.
When we got home, they told us it was the hottest July ever :-)

After having climbed the northface of Gwächtenhorn together with Andreas, I continued to Sustenhorn from Sustenlimi alone by ski (which I had taken with me through the northface), while Andreas returned by foot to the skidepot at the bottom of the face.
On this day - at Whitsun-Sunday - probably hundreds of ski mountaineers stood on the top of Sustenhorn. But when I reached it after having climbed Gwächtenhorn Northface, I was alone on the summit of Sustenhorn, although it was Whitsun :-)).
Sometimes it's useful to climb in an anticyclical manner .... ;-)
Route Climbed: ski route from Steingletscher via Tierbergli hut Date Climbed: May 11th 2002
Ski tour at the end of the season, when driving by car is possible until Hotel Steingletscher. For a mountain of this height the climb was very easy. But the day was soon cloudy and we turned back from climbing Gwaechtenhorn in addition because we did not want to loose track in the fog.
Route Climbed: from Kehlenalphuette Date Climbed: 12-july-2002
A very beautiful walk to the lovely Kehlenalphuette. Next morning, we were the only party on that route. After the Sustenlimi, we joined the many parties from Tierberglihuette. Excellent view from the summit.
