good stuff
a fine day indeed! ditto what Mots010 said about Shavano: Successful day on Shav and Tab. Weather was cooperative and the glissade down the Angel was a nice touch.

Snow climb on the west ridge
A repeat climb, we chose a different route... lots of snow and cornices as we traversed the tricky ridge. The snow was more sparce under the summit- thus making our final pitch more difficult for footing & our ice axes. Nerves were higher than expected, but after an awesome 1,000 foot glissade, we were all smiles!:-)

Combo w/ Shavano
I good class 2 hike. Best if you can car pool and descend Shavano's east face. . . if you want to do them both.

Went for a direct ascent up Tabegauche a few clicks to the left of the left shoulder. Was about to get on the ridge and saw a big thunderhead rollin in..Got pounded with m and m size hail on the way down the inside of that shoulder in a skree feild. When we got to the base of the mountain by the lake it cleared up to bright and beautiful skies and about 80F. Fun time. will hopefulyl be able to go back and finish it soon.

2nd on the day
Made it over from Shavano via Blank Gulch. Quicker traverse than it looks, since you've just gone about 5,000 vert for Shavano, it may look REALLY FAR AWAY...don't quit! Keep going! It's easy.

angel
3/4/14- added on tabeguache after a tiring, time consuming climb of shavano. almost turned back 200' beneath the summit due to avy concerns, but re-adjusted and found a safe passage to the top. really enjoyed this summit! #59/100 winter
4/22/06- re-climbed shavano and the angel snowfield to summit tabeguache. what a fun group!

Traversed from Shavano
Nice climb, great views. After Tabegauche, we headed over UN 13712 to Jones Peak. We descended Jones Peak to Shavano Lake which is probably one of the most scenic spots I've been to. Bushwacked through the drainage below the lake until popping out on the CO trail.

Blank Gulch TH, Ascend Shavano E Slopes to Tabeguache S Slopes
When we began the mountains were covered by clouds. We broke out the Shavano saddle to look over a white world pierced only by high mountain peaks. What a sight! By the time we reached the Shavano summit, all the couds had burned off for a great view in all directions.
