Tatras mountain rescue team in action

A boy fell some meters and broke his forearm just in steepest part of the trail to the saddle Bystre sedlo, just some meters below the saddle. They were just a 50 meters above us when it happened. The Tatras mountain rescue team were called for help. They did a good work. The dominating summit is Satan (2432 m). The date of the photo: 2nd august 2001. Photo by Ladislav Ruttkay. Poor fellow!

Bad luck! By the way, is that true, that helicopter rescue in Tatras costs about 5000 EUR?

Those times (in 2001) the mountain rescue was for free.

A helicopter rescue can cost that much now, there were some cases, when 4000-5000 EUR must have been paid for the helicopter rescue.

I am going to buy an insurance for my Tatra trip in March! :)

What a good idea! The insurance costs only 0,7 EUR per day... That's incomparable to 5000 EUR in case of ... but rather these cases are not going to be your case! I wish you not to need the rescue !
