Post winery....
In order to be in top condition for this high point, we stopped off at the Crown Valley winery a few miles prior---grest fun tasting. Then onto Taum Sauk....added on the loop to Mina Sauk Falls....nice late afternoon activity and the weather was incredible---clear and crisp! State #5

Wet
Chuck and I came and went. Slept two nights in a tent.
Nice high point...the falls was very cool (and flowing hard from all the rain).

Taum Sauk Mtn.
Met with a great friend and had a fun weekend of hiking. Very cloudy and wet initially. Mina Sauk Falls were awesome.
HP # 5. Started at the top hiked down to Mina Sauk Falls and then back up to the TH. Even though the HP is nothing to brag about it's a REALLY pretty trail and will get the heart rate up when you hike up from the waterfall. I love the Ozarks!

Hands Across America
This was the 8th state highpoint visited in 6 months by my daughter Vanessa and me at the beginning of our quest. We went here with our family on Hands Across America day, in which we participated near Ste. Genevieve, MO. I recently completed my 49 state high points, and resolve to forego spending three weeks Alaska in favor of going to the Himalayas.

OK, this sort of drives home how silly high pointing is. Granite and McKinley are one thing but Taum Sauk??? sorry dudes. You just drive up and stroll a short distance to a marker in the woods, can't even see anything, you can climb up on the rock there, like a couple feet higher, and be on the top of Missouri....sheesh!

Show Me Taum Sauk Mtn.
Short hike to the MO highpoint in a pretty state park. We did the 3 mile loop hike to Mina Sauk Falls. Drove on to Piedmont and had breakfast at the Zephyr Cafe. State HP #36.

Icey
The off road drive during the last mile through the snow and ice was the hardest part of my AR-MS-LS High Point Trip. Wish I could have made a day of it but only had time to walk to the high point in the dark and move on.

This is one of the four highpoints I snagged on a road trip from Atlanta. A pleasant place, indeed!

Family HP
Drove all the way from Kansas City to reach my 22nd high point. My wife and dog got their first. Nice area, but probably nicer when there are leaves on the trees.

Asphalt Trail
My wife lived in St Louis at the time and she had never been to Missouri's highpoint and neither had I. Even though there isn't much to walking to the summit, it is a beautiful place and there is always excitement about reaching the high point of a state. We saw pileated woodpeckers while on the summit.

Hike The Falls Too
Brought the whole family to the top; quick, short walk on a sidewalk. Then hiked to Mina Sauk - nice hike, nice views, very enjoyable. We had a good view of "where the falls would be" if there was actually any water in them. HP#12

HP #35
Hiked the HP and the falls loop trail. Nice to be out of the car. Last of 3 HP's of the trip. Headed from here to the Donut Drive-In in St. Louis. If you love donuts, you have to go there! Stop at Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard too--just down the street. You won't regret it! Good stuff!

Rainy
Touched the nice stone highpoint marker, then ran/jogged the Mina Sauk Falls trail. I was kind of disappointed with the falls, I thought they would be bigger.

Long, cold, windy, wet day
Driving from Tulsa, I arrived with just over an hour of daylight left. Clouds and rain obscured any view from the overlook. After a few minutes at the highpoint, I decided I could run to Mina Sauk Falls and back before dark. Wet, slick rocks slowed progress at some points, but the effort paid off as the falls were the best part of the trip. I had just enough time to climb the observation tower before dark, but the weather again obscured any view. #3

We braved 45-degree weather in a winter ascent. Because temps had been below freezing for several weeks, the trail to Mina Sauk Falls was a bit muddy as the ground thawed.

Mina Sauk Circle Day Hike
Paved path to the top. Took my 11-year old cousin and we both agreed the best was the Mina Sauk Trail accessible from this paved path--a beautiful gem of a hike for Missouri.
