Taylor Dome
With Mike Callen. Easy peak to get to, and some fun easy 3rd class to get to the top. Trip report.

Meandering exploration
After wandering around the northern and southern sides, I ended up climbing up and down both approaches after some initial waffling about the brief exposure on the standard route. Fun climbing and a beautiful summit.
Started hike to the dome in sunny, cool weather. At the summit, the wind came up and clouds dropped and it began snowing! I took the north chimney, as it was the most protected from the wind. 45 minutes later it was all over.

Up west ridge and down north chimney on the very hot day hike of Taylor and Rockhouse.

Standard route
Attempt 2. Last November (without beta), attempted to climb class 4/5 icy north ridge and got rebuffed. Went back in warmer conditions and summited using the standard class 2/3 route. Pictures

Short but sweet
I originally balked at the exposure on the standard West ridge (Jenkins) route and spent some time on the north/west side looking for an easier route. Failing in that, we returned to the west ridge and made short work of the exposed ledge. Great summit!

First outing into the Domeland
Climbed this with my friends Zack, Brian and Dan. Zack and I saw this from Cannell Peak in the Spring and wanted to hit this along with a trip to McNally's on the way back.
A bit more involved on the scrambling than I expected. It was class 3 at the summit block. It only got risky in a couple spots (due to crumbly licheny rock) but was fine if you took your time. I have no idea how someone got a 11 and 6 year old up this (saw their signatures in the book). I wonder if I missed some really easy way up?

Big Meadow
Nice trip up from Big Meadow on the way to Rockhouse, both peaks have nice but short scramble before the summit. There was 3-6" fresh snow on the ground from the previous week's and day's storm. Went up a face on the NNE side due to ice covering the otherwise easier NW side.

I went with some friends to Taylor Dome which is about 4 miles round trip with an elevation gain of approximately 1100 feet. There is also a class 3 climb at the top, and the view is magnificent.

summer fun
scrambled up from Manter Meadow after a day's work on the local trails. Spent approximately 5 months in the Manter Mdw area over the course of 2 summer with the USFS. Pretty awesome place to live.

I climbed this peak with a large group (PCS). We went up Taylor Dome in the morning and then climbed Siretta in the afternoon. Taylor was somewhat better in my opinion.

Like Bob said. The scramble up the north side was pretty fun. Very windy on the summit! Tagged the pinnacle just to the south as well, 'just because'--much easier than it looks from Taylor Dome.
