"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

From the kilnsThe gate at the kilns is still closed and may not open (supposedly due to staff shortages). Brings the total mileage to about 17. A bit long but nice day overall with just a slight breeze (forecasted high winds didn't materialize).

from Thorndike CGHiked up with Witt from Laguna Beach, CA in just under four hours and ten minutes. My poor car could not make it up the incline from Thorndike to Mahogany Flat. Some rime ice and a weird weather pattern that had Panamint Valley in bright sunshine and Death Valley cloaked in thick cloud, so that when we were on the ridge it was literally half and half. A little snow on the way up but mild winds. Witt had a hall pass from his wife for three days so he was making the most of it, and he drove me back down to my car from Mahogany Flat.

From Mahogany Flat CG#1 05-29-21 W/ Lana. Early start made for a stimulating sunrise view. Didn't expect the long stretch of contouring around Bennett Peak or the subsequent elevation loss, but that kept monotony at bay! Windy all day long. Enjoyed the contrast between the high switchbacks and then the gentle quarter-mile stroll to the summit. The trees along the trail were amazing to behold. Their bold colors, knotting, deeply-veined exposed roots and Halloween-themed skeletons begged for long looks.

Freezing Climb!Great views and enjoyable climb, except for the weather near the top! Gale force winds on the ridges between rodger, bennette, and telescope peak. At summit, had 10 F weather, gusting winds, and no view at all! It was completely surrounded by cloud cover. On a good day, I imagine this hike is absolutely epic though! I just got unlucky here.

Death Valley RonatemberFrom Badwater Basin at midnight, drove up to the pavement end from Emigrant Camp, hiked up to Charcoal Kilns and Mahogany Pass, and 2 and a half hours from Mahogany to summit. Nearly 90 degrees on return trip due to a late start, 17 miles round trip in 8 hours, -280 feet to 11,000 feet in 7 hours. Death Valley is well worth the visit, come prepared with a tank of water!

KilnsPerfect conditions, nice hike up from the Kilns. Patches of snow here and there, especially between the Kilns and Bennett, but mostly snow free.

StormCelebration hike for a friend's 65th birthday. We hiked up the easy way and spent the night on the summit, woke up to sleet and graupel in the night and rime ice in the morning. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the bristlecones up there!

5 Summit DayTelescope was the main and first objective in long 5-summit day. Blowing snow and fog made for limited views from Telescope, but conditions got better later in the day. Trip Report

Death Valley's West SideTemperature was almost ideal, sunny with a cold wind. I returned over Bennet, which was a nice, quiet place to rest. This hike took me 5:45.

Telescope Peak Summit Achieved! Finally had a chance to go hike Telescope Peak it’s been on the bucket list for ages! There wasn’t snow yet, but it was pretty cold.. 13 miles round trip with 3,300’ of elevation gain. Beautiful views of Badwater Basin and the Sierra Nevada Mountains! I definitely recommend this hike!
