It was nice to get on some rock after a year long lazy spell. Spent the day with Miguel Forjan and Mike Sash. TR'd a couple of routes at Paul's Paradise. Tried the Sharks's Fin but burned out part way up....need to get back in shape soon.

I've scrambled out in the hills a few times, found 4 of the natural stone arches that are out there...

Day of Personal Firsts
Great day out with Rick. Personal firsts for me - leading Rotten Bananas 5.7 and Bananarama 5.8 on the Tall Wall. Climbing Mon Cherie 5.9 on the Truffle Tower. Following my first 5.10a on Pangborn. Climbed the Slab Route 5.10d (TR of course - but did not fall ;)). Wrapping up the day taking 4 consecutive lead falls (exciting firsts for me) while on the Poodle Wall routes. Thanks Rick for the encouragement, support and advice. Great day out (still kinda high from the whole thing, and swollen and bruised but it feels great).

Shark's Fin, Leaning Tower of Pizza, etc.
Met up with Dave Van Selow and awagher. Climbed the Shark's Fin and the 5.6 (or 5.8) route to the left of it. Drove to the Leaning Tower of Pizza and climbed Deep Dish and Paranozoti. Finished off the day on Paul's Paradise. Fun day at Alabama Hills while the High Sierra was getting a dusting of snow.

On our way to the Horton Lakes trailhead to climb Basin Mountain the next day, Al Kwok, awagher and I stopped here a few hours to climb at Paul's Paradise. We did De Ham Bone, Frank, Frederick and Ted Shred. I found the climbing to be easier than the given guidebook ratings.

Route Climbed: All Over, Don't Know Names Date Climbed: Numerous
I usually just drive down the road til I see something that catches my eye, then climb it. Mostly bouldering, no ropes, and no names of the climbs I've done unfortunately. Done a little sport climbing there as well. That's the beauty of it, who needs a guide book, just go climb something that looks fun.

My first real introduction to climbing in the Hills. I LOVED IT!
Steve Larson and I tagged several routes on Paul's Paradise, The Shark's Fin and The Poodle Wall. We haven't seen a single climber all day. The weather could not have been better. I will be back very soon!
