I managed to get a group to hike with me this time. We had great weather for our summit day and camped on the edge of the cliff overlooking Mirren Lake. The clouds rolled in overnight and we had to do a low visibility glacier crossing. Totally worth it.

cold, wet, foggy and windy
I made it to Lone Tree Pass just as the clouds, wind and rain rolled in. I passed some jerk kids who left a trail of filth and garbage in their wake (which I picked up on the way back).
Once I neared the North Summit, the wind picked up and really started to chill me down. As I had packed light, I had no rain shell. So I postponed my hike and made a shelter in a large ice cornice near the North Summit.
After a cold wet night, I packed up my gear and quickly got lost on the glacier crossing back to the south summit. Visibility had dropped to ~100ft. I wandered around for about 30min. The only way to tell the direction I was heading was by the wind direction. Eventually I came across some cairns and found the route back down to the Lone Tree Pass approach.
I've been looking at the Glacier off and on for 30 or 40 years, so I figured I'd better get up there before it's too late (and I'm "late").
Car camp at the Frog Ponds TH to the Ponds themselves in ~ 4 hours. Cloudy and cool for the slog up through the forest. Clearing after lunch would have made for a perfect afternoon in the sun but, instead, we were driven into the shelter of the tent by clouds of murderous mosquitoes.
Got up to a perfect sunny morning and made the summit ~ 10.45. Stupendous views in all directions.
Off down at 11.30 and at the car by 5.30 after a brew and packing up at FP.
