Thank you. The Longfellow Range is great. Can't compare in height to your western peaks, but you start a lot lower so it's still a decent hike. Backpacking is the best way to lose yourself in these beautiful mountains. Plus, you get to walk on the AT.
The Horn gains about 2200 feet which is pretty typical for New England 4000 footers. Maine has its own character; it's wilder and has some of the most rugged terrain on the whole AT, especially Katahdin.
