it's really neat

to hear about such a remote and interesting place. I'd definitely like to go there and experience the arctic summer "night". I have a friend in Oregon who said his ancestors come from the area.

Re: very nice report

Yes, the day before we had to leave from Bunes we checked a watch to set the alarm for the morning. We had thought it was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon and were considering going for a walk, but to our suprise it was 11pm.. This was after only 3 days without looking at our watches.
Thanks for the tip, I changed it.

Ahhhh. Heaven!!!

Lofoten is probably the most amazing place I've ever been. It's always incredibly nice to hear the stories of others who have been there. Because getting there takes planning and time there aren't too many of us. I was there this summer. I brought some stockfish back and we're making it next week! Yes, that's the cod that has been sitting out for months and months in the cold, dry arctic air. Climbing Reinebringen was one of my best mountain experiences ever, even though it's only 1,500 feet! The summit cairn on that mountain is a religious place for me. The combination of steep cliffs and water is simply amazing. I've got some pics of my trip up here. Cheers.

DON'T

Please don't tell people how wonderful it is climbing and hiking in Lofoten. It's still so uncrowded and otherwordly. Oh, wait, I guess I better delete all my info about Lofoten from this website....
Glad to hear you had a great trip, and had decent weather. I had plans for Lofoten this summer, but ended up stuck in the USA instead. Your trip report really made me miss home.

mate how good...

...is this area?! We were there for a week this northern summer during our trip across the arctic and can't wait to go back. Climbing Svolværgeita was one of the highlights of my life - I haven't done a huge amount of trad climbing yet but topping that rock has consigned me to what I hope will be plenty more. One of the advantages of being stuck the next three years in the UK is it's not that far, hey. Cod fish oil tastes like crap though. Great trip report pal, really takes me back. Gorgeous photos. Cheers, Goldie
