Maybe Salmo MountainWhen I was up there I thought that peak was positioned about right for Salmo Mountain, which is barely in Washington.

Not Salmo MountainIt is not Salmo Mountain. Now that I have done most (but not all) of my homework, there are several reasons why I know it is not Salmo:
1. I have a wider angle photo (i.e., not zoomed in) that shows better which direction the shot is pointed. The photo is pointed more to the NNE than the roughly northeasterly direction to Salmo Mountain. The direction of my wide angle shot is almost directly down Watch Creek. Unfortunately, I did not get a photo of Salmo Mountain and I can't seem to find a picture of it on the web anywhere
2. There is an intervening ridge in the wide angle shot that corrosponds to a prominent ridge on the north side of the Salmo River. This ridge is directly in front of Ripple Mountain. This prominent ridge is shown in my Benchmark Maps mapbook. The picture here shows the wider angle shot I have in reasonable comparison (though his is actually wider than mine). I believe the peak on the far right in this photo is our Salmo Mountain, but it may even be farther right than that
3. According to my mapbook, there should be a road going up to the summit of Salmo (there is a lookout up there; see here) on the Gypsy side of it. This road would be visible in the above photograph but it isn't. Further, the lookout is not visible
4. Salmo Mountain is not higher than Gypsy Peak (it is nearly 500 feet lower). Ripple Mountain was definitely higher than Gypsy. This link says Ripple Mountain is 2,640 meters (7413 ft) high
5. This site shows a picture of Gypsy Peak from Salmo Mountain. Since there are trees in the foreground of the site's picture and there are no trees at the summit area of the picture above, one can surmise that the above mountain cannot be Salmo
6. I seem to recall looking at Salmo Mountain while I was up there and it was a largely forested summit.
