Stair climbers don't get that steep.
If I were training for a big peak I'd grab a heavy pack and head here. Almost all the gain is in the last mile and it's brutal in a good way. No complications just a steep, very steep, uphill slog. We had mid 60's weather with full sun. Perfect.

From Dixie Mine TH
Run/hike. The top is like climbing an endless super steep boat ramp, but the view in the evening from the top is worth it

Super Steep and irradiated!
Trail run from TH via Dixie Mine Trail (although "run" was a relative term on that super steep summit push in 110 degree heat). Great views of everything. Didn't stay on the summit long with all of the Radiation Hazard signs. Great challenging day on the mountain.

Great weather
3 of us reached the summit via the Dixie Mine Trail. Walked around the side of the microwave towers, which appear to be about at the highest point. Very steep last 2 miles, gaining about 1700 in the last 2 miles, and a little over 300 feet in the first 2 3/4 miles. Weather in the 50s.
I got this peak and a few others in the McDowells. Run fun hikes and some of the peaks have some good scambles on them and they are easily accessible from the trails heads.

Bust those calves
With mstender. Nice trail, healthy tracts of saguaro and other cactus along route. Then the road part starts. Man, it is steep. Great views from the top.
