Made it to the top after a semi moderate trail
I went the last week, took the trail and made it to the top for some awesome views. The trail is not your typical state park kind of trail that zigzags up the mountain, but an ATV trail that is rocky and steadily up hill. I had to stop to rest a bit but made it. My next time I am going to bushwhack over to Big Rock which is about a mile South and steeper.
I did this hike alone with no issues I think Big Rock I may need a hiking partner. Loved it!!!
Excellent directions. Last 50 yards uphill to parking lot was washboarded. Initial hike from trailhead is downhill or level on forest road. About 10 minutes to first switchback from TH and then route goes seriously uphill. Quite warm on top, but still a lot cooler than Raleigh which has had 100 degree temps six days in a row. Will likely climb again next year and bushwhack over to Big Rock.
Followed directions and worked well. Only exception is there is a T in the trail w/ an old road to the left and the trail to the right. Either actually works (came back that way but much longer)but the trail is to the right. (didn't see the "cairn" as described.... Beautiful view and had a good time on the rocks. Wanted to figure out how to get to the "big rock" (i guess it is called) but missed it - if anyone has good directions to that, I would be interested.....

Nice peak
The walk up was on an old woods road, so that wasn't too exciting. But, the views from up top as well as the potential for ridge scrambling make this a fun peak.

ATV Route...
Awesome peak! Took the old ATV route up and spent some time around the Huckleberry Rock area. Beautiful views, and had them all to myself. Can't wait to go back!

Great!Awesome hike! Great mix of skill requirements. Can't believe this isn't heavily used, but that's not so bad...
