Lower Sand Creek Lake
With Rachael. From camp at Lower Sand Creek Lake, up the left ramp and summit ridge. Stayed mostly on the summit ridge the whole way for the best scrambling. Great Peak.

Standard route
Dayhiked Tijeras and Music from the Music Pass TH. The ramps were still holding snow. I took a shorter, steeper one (I didn't hike up high enough to see the standard one). The route over to Music's south ridge, it's summit ridge, and then the east ridge descent were all more involved than I had thought. I had thought they'd be easy tundra, but they all took more time than anticipated. Music's south ridge was a lot of fun.

Loved this peak!! We took the left ramp, through the cliffs which proved to be a little sketchy, on the down climb. Great summit ridge!!

From Music Pass
Daytrip from the Music Pass TH. Great scramble, the ramp still was holding snow, but it was rotten and the scrambling on the left side of the ramp was preferable.

From Music Pass TH
We enjoyed a glorious fall day on Tijeras & Music. We found the ramp described on the sp page and it had ice at the bottom, so we rapped down. The ramp described by Dave Cooper is further south and is supposed to be a bit easier. Climbed the east ridge of Music as well, which is a short but sweet scramble. See TR.

From Music Pass TH
Climbed Tijeras and Music from the Music Pass TH on a great fall day. The ramp on Tijeras was holding a lot of ice - we were able to climb up beside it but decided to rappel on the way down.
Solo trip. Camped at Lower Sand Creek Lake. Well up the left gulley when sleet set in. Next time...

My first 13er, loved the secludedness. Only other people on trail were fishermen. Nice mountain to mix up the routine

Standard Route
Total ascents = 2. 1st time via the standard route. 2nd time via the first ascent of "Vertical Study in Grays and Browns" on the "Mark Rothko Wall" (the South Face).
Route Climbed: East/North Face, from Music Pass Date Climbed: Summer, 1991
Climbed with Aaron Johnson, and Mark and Robin Anderson. Bad, windy weather, but one of the best climbs around. This is a GREAT mountain, definitely near the top of my Colorado favorites!
Take a break from the "big-name" Sangres, and do this one; you'll probably be alone, and will fall in love with the mountain.
