Cloudy Again
Warm up for Mt Baker on the 16th. Although I have been up this peak 4 times, I still haven't gotten a view from the top. We still had a good time in the warm weather.
Route Climbed: Lakeshore/ Ipsut Pass/ Tolmie Peak Trail Date Climbed: September 30, 2001
Got to trailhead real late (noon) after driving around from our camp at the Ipsut Campground. Gradually the trail gains and loses elevation for the first 1.5 miles as you go around Mowich Lake then head down then up some steep switchbacks to Eunice Lake. The lake is pretty awesome, and some hikers got the urge to go swimming, but I opted for some filtered water instead. Some quick steep switchbacks gets you to the lookout pretty darn quickly. The views were magnificent, and I wish I had a better quality digital camera. We decided to go across the ridge on the climbers trail that hit the true summit of Tolmie Peak, then hit thelast peak of the 3 at the end. Alison stopped at the notch as you had to descend a steep trail towards the notch that has lots of loose talus and sand on granite slabs. Once at the notch a bush belay is necessary and a weird move over a few boulders and trees that protect that notch where there is some good exposure. Once at the base of the last summit, a quick staircase of granite takes you to the summit. Unaware if this peak has a name. There is a picture of it in the photo gallery HERE

Route Climbed: Trail Date Climbed: September 23, 2005Very nice clear day. Good view of the n/w side of Rainer. Mt. St. Helen's was letting off a little steam, which was a bonus photo.
