Did it!
My Philmont trek was the best! Not only did I get to climb Baldy but I got to knock off the Tooth! This was the closing thrill of our 10 day trek! I'll never forget it because we got up at 4:00 AM to watch the sun rise on the top! It was awesome!

Great Way to End Trek
Departed Clark's Fork, climbed to Shaeffer's Pass, then transited Tooth of Time Ridge to summit the Tooth itself. After spending time there getting the requisite photos and marveling at the lady bugs, we (Troop 275 of Choctaw, OK) continued on down the ridge to hike back into Main Camp. Nice cap to a 95-mile (GPS-measured) trek that started at Ponil and included Baldy and regions north of Philmont.
Route Climbed: From Rocky Mountain Scout Camp Date Climbed: August 1990
I remember climbing this with the other young scouts I met that week at Rocky Mountain Scout Camp.
Our camp was at the base of this amazing mountain. It took a few days before our councilors took us on the day long hike up the Tooth, but it was worth the wait. I will remember this hike for years to come.
Any scout heading to Philmont should add this to their itinerary.
Route Climbed: From the ridge... Date Climbed: July 1995
Hiked this with my Boy Scout Philmont crew from Troop 1100 in Burke, Virginia. As is common, coming over the Tooth was a part of our last day (day 12 and 100+ miles) on the trail. Another beautiful view and sight at Philmont.

Crew 6/27D, 2001, Hike #1.
Good times at Philmont! I had a blast! I'm hoping to go back and work as a Ranger there in the next few years.
Anyways, the climb/scramble from the Tooth Ridge trail was not bad, except for it was 95-100+ degrees (hot for us NW boys). Oh well, I had fun and there were awesome views.
Any Eagle Scouts out there? Yep I tagged this Summit at Philmont back in the summer of '95. Fun climb to the top! Not a huge obstacle by any means but it was definitely fun and enjoyable!
Route Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: July 15, 1994
Climbed this the first time I went to Philmont in 1992. I also summitted in '94, & '98. Would have made it up in '96 but the area was closed due to Bald Eagles nesting. The views were nice, but each time we were ready to get back to basecamp, and thus hightailed it down.
On our last day, we camped at Tooth Ridge and went up to the top to watch sunset. Although it was clear directly above us, there were thunderstorms in every direction which made for a great sunset . The Plains took on a cool look. We were going to wake up at 4AM the next morning to watch sunrise as well, but disappointingly, it was raining very hard.
