Route Climbed: Loveland Pass Date Climbed: March 29, 2002  Sucess!

Our route took us up two 12,000 footers, Grizzly Peak (a 13er) and finally up Torrey's. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful climb. Awesome views from the top. Mostly just a really long hike but there were some sporty parts along the ridgeline of Grizzly (watch that drop off... it's a doosy!). There was some loose rock heading up towards Torrey's summit as you come out of the saddle. Snow conditions were perfect and we didn't even need crampons. My buddy, Paul Ivaska, and I had the mountains to ourselves that day along with perfect weather. It was my first 14er!

Route Climbed: Dead Dog Couloir Date Climbed: May 19, 2001  Sucess!

Started up the couloir about 7:50 AM, probably an hour too late. By the time we topped out at 9:30 the upper section was turning to mush. Rockfall is an issue. I wouldn't be in there without a helmet. The right (north) side of the couloir seemed worse.

A fun climb, worth repeating!

Route Climbed: standard gray/torreys route Date Climbed: June 2, 2000  Sucess!

Went on a Friday - stood alone on the peak waiting for my friend to catch up and 15 mountains goats popped up one at a time from the steep side. What a delight! One of Colorados prettier 14ers.

Route Climbed: Dead Dog Couloir Date Climbed: May 19, 2002  Sucess!

great snow climb, 45-50 degree pitch. Conditions soft for this time of year. Snowpack is a bit sketchy, with weak layers, but saw several people skiing down (plan that for next year!)

Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch over Grays Date Climbed: Aug 10 1995  Sucess!

I was getting some altitude training for the Leadville 100. At the start I met some climbers who had just finished Grays and Torreys and were going over to climb Lincoln, Bross, and Democrat that day also, which I thought was pretty impressive.

Route Climbed: Kelso Ridge Date Climbed: August 1996  Sucess!

The famous knife edge wasn't too bad. Edging around the gendarme before the knife edge was more difficult, so thought I. At any rate, ridge climbs are great, and this was a fun cruise with just a little spice.

Route Climbed: North Slopes II from Stevens Gulch Trailhead Date Climbed: Oct. 7, 2001  Sucess!

Climbed after a cold ascent up Greys. Very quick traverse in between mountains. It began to snow last few feet but finished the climb. No knew snowfall at the time so most was leftover from Spring and safe traveling on. Great mountains to climb on a day off.

Route Climbed: Dead Dog Couloir Date Climbed: June 2001  Sucess!

Climbed 3 times before but first time VIA Dead Dog. Soloed, up and down in about 6 hours and that was after getting back from a couple of weeks in Hawaii. By the way, the snorkeling in Maui is awsome! But this is a great climb and very enjoyable, easy access and nice and long, solid snow. Watch for slides tho. some one was lifted out of there, having fell in Dead Dog the week after we were there.

Hike from Grays on a very sunny day. Lots of people on the summit of Grays not so many on Torreys. This was my forth 14er.

My first 14er. Saw a mountain goat 100 feet below the summit. Very cool. Great views out over summit county and down to Pikes Peak country

Route Climbed: Many Date Climbed: Jan. 1999-present  Sucess!

I have climbed and skied Torrey's in all seasons. One trip in April to ski the Emperor remains my all time coolest ski descent of a high peak. Over 3000 vertical on some sick terrain.

Route Climbed: Chihuahua Gulch Date Climbed: 9/3/00  Sucess!

Great entry up the Gulch, then a little harder to the saddle, then a little harder to Torreys, a simple pop to Gray's, then down, down, down into my boots on the interminable descent.

Route Climbed: Standard Route, Stevens Gulch Date Climbed: 08-16-90  Sucess!

Actually we've climbed this in conjunction with Grays several times, this being my first. More and more folks in the parking lot every year, and many families climb this with youngsters and their dogs. It's upsetting to see how many folks let their dogs go off the leash, since there's always a neat herd of mountain goats along the way.
