Yosem highcountry
This was my first peak in the Yosemite highcountry (climbed Cathedral Peak later in the day). Early spring conditions and I was glad I had my axe. Had to employ a few 5th class moves to gain the summit. Great views in all directions.

stout class 4
We climbed the steep cracks on north side of summit, felt it was more like 5.7ish... just for a move or two. Couldn't see a good way up the south side.

N to S traverse
Fun knife edge scramble. Definitely felt harder than Class 4, especially the last pitch to the South Summit. Beware of crumbly chickenheads!

Nice scramble
Climbed the north summit no problem then started the traverse to the south summit. Moved between the ridge and down climbing (plenty of places to do so) as needed. Then moved to the south route and went half way up. Should have gone up higher to find the route but failed to see a good way from below.

Fun 4th class. We used rope.

Both summits
The north summit was straightforward, but the south summit seemed much harder than class 4.

Climbed North Summit
N. Summit only (doesn't reall count) after traverse from Tenaya Pk while on a day hike from Sunrise High Sierra Camp, where I worked that summer.

South Arete
Afternoon hike from Cathedral Lakes trailhead. Fun scrambling, nice exposure.
Pretty high class 4. Much harder than the Mountaineer route on Cathedral and Unicorn. Climbed up a steeply angled chimney from the south side. Not as hard as I thought it would be downclimbing.

Climbed the south summit via the south arete, but decided the traverse was too much for me. Down climbed the south arete, walked around the base and tagged the north summit.

South Arete
Nice loop of Tenaya Peak, Columbia Finger and Tresidder Peak. Tresidder was the best of the three, though I enjoyed them all. About 4 hrs (and a couple minutes) car-to-car.

N to S traverse
Traverse from N to S summit w/ Mike Z. (part of Tenaya/Tressider/C Finger traverse). Felt like very short Matthess with much crappier rock... Great views of Cathedral Range, nice exposure.

Nice
Two of us made it up the north block and two opted to stay below. Nice views all around but a tad windy.
Route Climbed: North-South summit traverse Date Climbed: September 25, 2005
First peak of a four peak day with Matthew Holliman. Was a warmup for us, but turned out to be a very enjoyable climb. This was my first non-car experience in the Tuolumne Meadows area/Cathedral Range, and I really liked the area. The traverse was a lot of fun, with only two parts stopping you from staying true to the jagged ridge; the north summit descent and one other short downclimb in the middle.
