Tucki Mountain, Death Valley

Tucki Mountain, Death Valley

Big old sprawling and complex Tucki Mountain 6,732', up to 12 miles wide at base and rising almost 7,000' it anchors the north end of the Panamint Range. As seen from the northeast. There is a good example of a broad alluvial sediment fan coming down the front of Tucki with a wash in it. May '05

Bad-ass ...

Reminds me of when I visited DV back in '03.

Devil's golf course really kicks ass,
but that's only if you can afford the gas.

Re: Bad-ass ...

I remember going there 1st time in '98 and gas at Furnace C. was 1.75. I had never seen gas that high!

btw keep the punks out! What...some drunks trampled a pulp fish and a bunch of drug crazed desperadoes actually tried to evade the pursuing DEA by taking an illegal turn toward Tucki Mtn.. Unfortunately it was no Batmobile and they ran out of road with no bushes or anything to hide in yuk yuk..

Re: Bad-ass ...

Everybody was "cool" when I first visited and
became a NPS volunteer at Death Valley in
October of 1993.

I got caught in a wild sandstorm, however, and
to this day I'm still pulling sand out my two ears.

(Gotta swear, my skull was half-filled with sand, but I loved living out there.)

Re: Bad-ass ...

No Scotty. While alone @ Aguereberry Point,
I thought I heard a Basque miner shouting out
over a bottle of cheap ale and even more expensive "shady lady."

I saw the moon rise twice over Badwater basin, and that was enough for me.

I staggered home with my tail between my legs. Never been back since, especially after dark.
