View of the Roteck N and NE ridge

... from high on the east ridge. The Roteck summit is just out of view on the left. According to the guidebook (the Alpenvereinsführer Ötztaler Alpen, to be precise), the traverse of this ridge from Roteck (3337m), over the twin summits of Rotwand and beyond, all the way to Trübwand (3264m), takes 4 hours and has UIAA grade III. Ignoring all the ups and downs, it's somewhere between 1 and 1.5 km. This photo only shows part of it, but this shows me enough not to want to try that alone. 4 August 2012.
