Fantastic..photo! There is nothing more to say. I've never seen the top of the mist or fog so flat, it is completely straight line! I love so much such days in the mountains, good visibility (above fog), clear blue sky, no wind....

Re: FantasticI don't know what to call that white stuff either. It's not fog - the fog burned off after I got up there. I drove up through it, and from above it looked like usual cloud tops - irregular and brilliant white. It also left fantastic amounts of frost on the trees that melted after the fog burned off. This photo was taken sometime after the clouds cleared up. I don't know how temperature inversions work, or why the pollution stays down in the colder air, but it had a beautiful effect yesterday. -Bob

Re: FantasticHey Bob, I don't know if this is the case in your picture but I have been hearing a lot on the radio recently with the weather we have been having about "freezing fog". From your description, it makes me wonder if that has something to do with what you are mentioning. I noticed this today when I hiked up Silver Star Mountain. Pretty cool though whatever it is, I gotta admit. -Brian

Re: FantasticThis stuff made for interesting travel over the Pass near Hood on Saturday morning. I saw one pick-up pulling a horse trailer that had flipped upside down in the median as it slid off the road in the patchy ice. Once I got to the east side of the Cascades, it was then dense fog from Hood to Madras. What a mess.

You're not fooling me, BobNice try, Bob. I can tell this is actually two different shots from completely different parts of the world on completely different days. You merely spliced them together.
