A look back at the moderately steep snow slope--especially without an ice axe--from just beyond the snow finger exit to rock. It wasn't so much the case of falling in the moat as the long step onto a steep, hard snow slope without means to stop yourself if you should slip. This was definitely the scariest part of the entire climb. The rest of the way to the top is just class 3 scrambling. Photo taken July 9, 2000.
