This washout across the Wolf...

This washout across the Wolf Creek Trail did not exist when I came through here two days prior. On the way in (an 11-mile hike to Gardner Meadow), I was drenched by heavy rain. Fortunately, the thunderstorm activity was mostly behind me to the east, but not that far behind me. On the hike out with the two strangers I had headed up Gardner with the day before, we came upon the washout (located maybe 5 miles from the trailhead). These two photos don't really show the devestation of it (10 feet deep, 20 feet wide). A horseman had come up to it on the downhill side and had apparently turned around. Such is the power of water!
